Letters of thanks

As part of our learning about the Rena and the Wildlife Response Team we decided to write letters. We wrote to thank the workers for the amazing job they are doing cleaning and looking after the wildlife.

We were so suprised to get an email inviting us to be part of the penguin release on Thursday 8th December. It was an amazing day and Lucy, Joseph and Manawa were chosen to open the penguin box. We loved watching the peguins going back to their homes. They were very cute!

Cool Bananas Christmas Show

We were enteratained by the Cool Bananas team on Friday. They reminded us that Christmas is about caring for and looking after the people around us. What could you do to make someone smile today?

Bethlehem College Concert Band

We really enjoyed listening to the talented Bethlehem Concert band perform at school last Thursday. Can you remember the names of some the instruments?

Rena Disaster

We have looked at newspaper articles, watched video clips and talked about the Rena disaster.
Here are some of our thoughts

The Rena tipped over sideways and got stuck on the reef. It spewed some oil over by the Mount. I feel sad because some of the penguins died. Jess

The Rena ship got stuck by the Mount. The oil leaked out of the boat. Lots of people helped clean the oil up. Journey

The Rena fell sideways onto the reef. The Rena spilt oil on the beach and some penguins got covered in oil. Some big boxes fell off the Rena. I feel sad because it was very sad. Neva

The Wildlife Rescue Centre helps the animals that are covered in oil. First they use canola oil to take the other oil off. Then they go under a nice warm lamp to dry. After that they go into a swimming pool to have a swim. Lucy

What is this?

Jessica's Dad found this in their garden. Put on your green thinking hat and see what ideas you come up with. What could it be?
